consciousness after death
Death: Scientific research has established that the physiological functioning of the brain, the decision of which defines brain death, is closely connected to mental states. However, many believe in some form of life after death, which is a feature of many religions. Neural imaging correlation studies cannot determine whether neural activity plays a causal role in the occurrence of mental processes—such as thinking and imagining—because correlation doesn't imply causation. They cannot determine if the neural activity is either necessary or sufficient for such processes to occur. The closest thing we have, through the lens of being dead, comes in the form of NDE (Near Death Experiences), where some people recall having unique visions when nearly dead. A common experience when dying is people seeing a white, glowing light right after passing out. Then, what proceeds is a unique experience; some people see a godlike figure talking to them, a dead relative telling them that it's not their turn to leave the earth yet, or leaving their body and seeing it in a third-person perspective.
